Easter 2011, The Good Stuff

Before the chaos of the storms and tornado on Easter weekend, my people were able to do some fun things for the holiday. They had breakfast with the bunny at the Zoo and the kids had a blast. Well, Lily had a blast. Henry still wasn't so sure about the characters that were walking around. Lily and Baldy also dyed some eggs. Here's a picture Grandma and Grandpa took on Easter Sunday before church. Lily loves fancy dresses, even if you can't quite tell from looking at the picture.

Easter Weekend 2009

My little person had a busy weekend and got to spend lots of time with all the grandparents. Friday night she spent the night with Grandma and Grandpa Stewart. They did some shopping and played at the park. Then on Saturday my people met all the grandparents at Webster Groves Baptist Church for an Easter egg hunt. Lily got to do some arts and crafts and then collect eggs and candy. The weather was so nice that all the kids played on the playground afterwards. After church and a nap on Sunday, everyone went to Grandma and Grandpa Wagner's for dinner. Lily got to hunt for some more eggs at their house and got a few presents. She thought she was hot stuff in the Easter jewelry Grandma Polly put in her basket. The set came with clip on earrings and everything. She also loved the shoes that came with one of the outfits Grandma Gail got her. She had to put them on as soon as she saw them. She is definitely a shoe girl. As usual, you can click on the picture below to see the whole photo album.

Decorating Eggs

The fam decorated some Easter eggs on Sunday. Lily had a lot of fun putting stickers on them...probably because the stickers were Sesame Street characters. :)

Decorating Easter Eggs

I thought we were going to spend a lazy/relaxing Sunday around the house, but then my people surprised me by trimming my nails. That is not considered "relaxing" by this dog. I was still depressed about the Tiger loss on Saturday though, so I didn't put up as much of a fight as I have in the past. My people were shocked they were able to accomplish their goal. They couldn't remember the last time they even tried to trim my nails. They gave up a long, long time ago and started taking me to the vet to have it done. I've been a part of this family for 6 years now and that was the first time they were able to trim all of my nails. We'll see what happens the next time they try.

Easter Egg Hunt - Take 1

Saturday my people took Lily to her first Easter Egg hunt. The first she's ever been to and the first of this year (she's going to another one Easter weekend). It was at their church and Lily had a lot of fun. The weather was awful, cold and rainy, but fortunately everything was already scheduled to be inside. One of the people there said that last year they had about 700 kids. This year they expected about 1000. They had 24,000 easter eggs ready to go.

They broke the egg "hunts" into different age groups. The first was Lily's, 0-36 months. They had all of the eggs on the floor in the middle of the gym. Everyone lined up along the edge of the basketball court and waited for the whistle. When the whistle blew, it was a free-for-all to grab the eggs. She caught on quick to what she was supposed to do. Here's a quick video of her picking up eggs.

After that part was over, they went to visit the Easter Bunny. She wasn't a big fan of Santa, so my people weren't sure what to expect with the bunny. They thought she would probably scream, but decided to try anyway. She loved him! She had a big smile on her face. While they were in line for the Easter Bunny, they saw that a fire truck was outside and kids were being allowed to sit in the front seat. Lily loves fire trucks, so that was the next stop.

Easter Egg Hunt at Grace Church 3-28-09

You'll notice the whole family is dressed in black and gold. This is because our beloved Tigers were playing UConn in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament that afternoon. Unfortunately they lost, but they put up a good fight and had an incredible season. Go Tigers!
