Kansas City Trip

Grandma Polly and Papa Jerry took Lily to Kansas City, MO last weekend. It was her first time going out of town without my people. The grandparents said she did really well and had a blast. They did lots of fun things at Crown Center, saw pretty lights on The Plaza and took a carriage ride in a coach that looked like Cinderella's. Lily is now making plans to go back when it's "hot" out so she can wear her Cinderella dress on the carriage ride. Click the album below to see pictures from the trip.

One!

Today is Mr. Henry's birthday! Happy birthday, buddy!

On Sunday, my people locked me in my crate (they call it my "house" like that makes it a fun place for me to go or something) and had the family over for a little birthday party. Click on the album below for some pictures.

Let's Dance!

Lily finished up her tap and ballet classes at the local community center last week. They had a recital to show off what they had learned. My people said it was really cute and pretty funny. They were so proud of Lily and how well she did.

Here's her tap dance. Don't worry, the video's only like a minute and a half long.

And here's her ballet dance. It's also short. They combined the two Monday night classes for the ballet dance, so there were a lot more girls on stage. They didn't do a very good job of spreading out, so Lily was kind of cramped for space. I'd love to know what the little girl to the right of her said to make Lily freeze up for a second. I'd also love to know what Lily was chatting about to the girl on her left. :)

Henry enjoyed himself at the recital also.

More Crafts

My people must've been on a crafting kick yesterday. Thanks to grandma, they made gingerbread house placemats...

...and tissue paper candy canes. Lily had a lot of fun with these. She did both of the placemats and one of the candy canes. Hopefully you can tell which one.

Then Baldy made a...wait for it...Darth Vader snowflake. (click the link for the template)

See it?

Thanksgiving Craft

Late one evening at the end of October, my tall girl person decided she wanted to do a Thanksgiving type craft with Lily. She took some construction paper and cut out a turkey along with 25 feathers, one for every day leading up to Thanksgiving. Each day, she asked Lily what she was thankful for, wrote it on a feather and added it to the turkey. By Thanksgiving, the turkey had a big, pretty tail.

When Katie would ask Lily what she was thankful for, Lily would usually just look around the room and pick the first object she saw. That makes for some pretty hilarious feathers like "coffee cups for daddy" and "chairs". There are some thoughtful feathers on there too though like "cousins" and "grandmas and grandpas". I think my favorite is "bones for Norm." I'm thankful for those too, even though I don't get them very often anymore.
Maybe next year Katie will plan ahead so half of the feathers aren't written upside down.

11 Months

Time keeps plugging along. Henry's 11 months old now and doing well. Constantly on the go and all smiles, as usual.

This snapshot was not as easy for my girl person to get as last month's was. I thought you might enjoy some outtakes.

And my favorite...

Fairytale Tea

On Sunday, Lily took Katie and Grandma Polly to a Fairytale Tea with Cinderella at the Magic House. She got to eat cookies, drink tea (apple juice) and meet Cinderella and Prince Charming. She also got to wear her Cinderella dress again, which I think was her favorite part.

Fun With Mr. Lion

My people pulled Lily's old Push 'n Ride Lion up from the basement. Henry's been having a blast with it. He loves to ride it, as you can tell from the very! big! smile!

The video is a little dark, but he's getting really good at walking and pushing it also.

Halloween 2010 In Pictures

My people did a lot of fun things for Halloween. They started with a trip to the pumpkin patch, then they went to Boo at the Zoo, carved a pumpkin and ended with Trunk or Treat at Grandma Gail and Papa Dean's church. Click on the albums below for all the pictures.

Lily was Cinderella this year and has already decided that she wants to be Belle next year. We'll see if that pans out. Thankfully, with all of the Disney Princesses, we should be set on costume ideas for the next couple of years for her. Ha. Henry may not be so easy. He was a dragon this year.

Pumpkinland 2010

Two weeks ago, Lily and Henry met their friends, Spencer and Luke, at the local pumpkin patch for a play date. Lily, Spencer and Luke had fun playing on all of the cool things that were set up. Henry enjoyed watching. He'll be right in the thick of it next year, I'm sure.

Here are pictures.

Of course, the day after the play date, a permission slip was sent home from school for a field trip to the same pumpkin patch. Lily was so excited because she was going to get to ride the bus! She immediately rounded up a bunch of stuffed animals, lined them up on the couch and declared the couch "a school bus so we can go to the pumpkin patch!" The group of animals on the left were her friends and the ones on the right were her teachers.

The field trip was a success. All of the preschoolers returned to school in one piece and Lily can now say that she's ridden a real school bus.

Fall Leaves 2010

One evening last week, the family went outside and made the first leaf pile of the season for the kids to play in. Lily had a blast playing in the big pile and Henry thought it was fun to sit in his little pile. He also thought it was fun to eat the leaves. He swallowed one, gagged on it for a bit and then vomited all over himself and Katie. You know it's been a fun evening when two people end up covered in vomit. Yuck.

Lily wanted to jump in the leaves, but decided she needed to get a big running start.

Henry thought it was fun to just sit in his little pile of leaves.

Here's the album of pictures, but I feel like I should warn you that a lot of them look the same. Ha.

My girl person was pretty excited that she got this picture on the first try.

Good-bye

Every morning when Baldy leaves for work, Lily grabs her American flag, waves it at the window and cheers "Go, daddy, go!" when she sees his car go down the street. It's quite the send off.

Nickname

Lily has started calling me "Normy". I'm not sure how I feel about this.

Whatever It Takes

Our satellite provider is currently having a dispute with Fox and has chosen to not show any Fox related channels until whatever they're arguing about (money, I assume) is settled. That means no FX and no Fox Sports Midwest, along with some other channels. This is a huge bummer for my people and I because we weren't able to get the Mizzou/Colorado game on TV this past Saturday...or were we? Take a look at what we had to resort to.

Pretty sad, huh? Or maybe ingenious? Baldy found the game streaming on some website, hooked the laptop up to the TV and we watched it on that awesome picture that fits our 46" screen so nicely. The upside is that we got to see the game, the downside, well you see the picture, right? No worries now though. My people have switched providers and are all set to watch the Mizzou/Texas A&M game this Saturday. Go Tigers!

Princesses on Ice

A couple of weeks ago, the grandmas, Katie and Lily went to see Disney Princesses on Ice. Lily loved it. She had been obsessed with "Sweeping Booty" for a while, then it was Snow White and ever since the show it's been Cinderella. She still likes to wear her Snow White dress around the house, but I'm guessing that'll change once Halloween rolls around and she can wear her Cinderella dress.

The Bucking Bronco

My people have been trying to catch Henry's latest move on video, but whenever he sees the camera he makes a beeline for it. This is the best they've gotten so far.

9 Months

Henry is 9 months old now. He went to the doctor today and everything looks good. He's 19.4 lbs. and 28" long, 50th percentile for both weight and height. He has 8 teeth (4 on top, 4 on bottom), is crawling all over the place (with his belly off the floor), pulling up on everything and slowly starting to cruise along the furniture. He's progressed from a pterodactyl type screech noise to a nice "ba-ba-ba" kind of talking. The nurse called him a flirt and the doctor called him "social".

Snuggling With Snow White

When Lily pretends to be Snow White, the entire family gets pulled into her fantasy world and the cast of characters are always the same. Greg is the Prince, Katie is the Queen (Isn't the Queen evil? Hmm.), Henry is Dopey and I am Grumpy (Wait, what?).

Ready to Dance!

Lily started dance class last night, beginning tap and ballet. She was super excited. Here she is in her tap shoes... and ballet shoes.
She did a great job listening to the teacher and trying the new things the teacher taught them. Parents aren't allowed in the room during class and they only have a small window to look through if they want to watch. My girl person was able to snap a couple of pictures with her phone through the window and of course, this is what she captured...

Lily off on her own doing who knows what. Ha! She goes once a week for 11 more weeks and then there's a little recital at the end. Should be fun!

New Trick

Henry has a new trick. He can now pull up on things! He's been perfecting it for the last week or so and now tries to pull up on everything. Just yesterday he was pulling up on sister's bed when he fell forward and hit his mouth on the bedframe. It was his first accident involving blood. The first of many, I'm sure. Fun times!

Look at me!
Oh, hi there!
Sister's ready to catch me if I fall.
